Whoever you are and wherever you are on this beautiful ball we call ‘Earth' I want to connect with you and let you know that you matter to God and to me.

There is a war raging in the unseen realm for your soul - a war between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness, between good and evil, between truth and error and between life and death.

In Luke 10:29 a lawyer asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbour?" In response, Jesus tells of a priest and a Levite, who seeing a man robbed and injured by thieves and left to die on the side of a road, passed him by. In contrast, a Samaritan, showed compassion and not only stopped to help him but took him to an inn to be cared for. A neighbour, according to Jesus, is one who shows mercy on those in need and does not pass them by.

More than a decade ago God inspired me to write ‘Dear Neighbour' letters. My prayer is that my words will bring hope and healing to all but especially to those who find themselves in spiritual need alongside the road of life. God has been so good to me and it is my privilege to direct your thoughts to Jesus, the lover of your soul.

You are my neighbour and I will not pass you by.

How much do you know?

Dear Neighbour,

After two months of studying Hermeneutics (the science and art of Biblical interpretation), I felt quite depressed. Not only was it a a very challenging subject, but I did not feel as though I was benefiting from all my hard work. However, everything changed when I read this statement by Virkler in my notes: “You do not truly possess knowledge until you are walking in the light of that knowledge”...

A Word In Season

Dear Neighbour,

Six months before He died, Jesus attended the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem, the religious centre. Pilgrims would converge on the city for a week of celebration.Throughout His ministry, Jesus received a mixed response. The Feast of Tabernacles provided the ideal opportunity for Jesus to address the doubters and the unbelievers. You may be surprised to learn that the Jewish religious leaders were among the group of unbelievers, being more interested in their traditions than Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus would speak these same words to those of you who are religious, doubters or unbelievers – it is a word in season just for you.

Dear Neighbour,

Let me begin by wishing you a New Year that is blessed by God. I really enjoy the opportunity God gives each one of us to have a new beginning. He is the God of New Beginnings.

Forgiven, not Condemned

Dear Neighbour,

The confession of cyclist, Lance Armstrong, has captivated the world. I have been intrigued by the responses. Novak Djokovic, the world’s top tennis player stated, "I think he should suffer for his lies all these years.'' Everyone seems to have an opinion concerning his sin and some have picked up stones of abuse to hurl at him, but what does God think about Lance Armstrong?

How do you respond to the Light?

Dear Neighbour,

During my study of the Book of Isaiah I read two true stories in a commentary by the late Bible teacher, Vernon McGee. They made such an impression on me that I have decided to share them with you.

“When I was a boy in Oklahoma, I used to have to milk a stubborn old cow. When it grew dark early in the evenings, I would have to take a lantern out to the barn with me. When I reached the corncrib two things would happen. The rats ran for cover—I could hear them taking off—and the little birds that were roosting up in the rafters would begin to twitter around and sing. The presence of light caused one to flee and the other to sing. Now, did the light make a rat a rat? No. He was a rat before the light got there. The light only revealed that he was a rat. When the Lord Jesus came into the world, He was the Light of the world. In His presence two things happened: He caused the birds to sing and the rats to run.”
