Welcome...

Whoever you are and wherever you are on this beautiful ball we call ‘Earth' I want to connect with you and let you know that you matter to God and to me.

There is a war raging in the unseen realm for your soul - a war between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness, between good and evil, between truth and error and between life and death.

In Luke 10:29 a lawyer asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbour?" In response, Jesus tells of a priest and a Levite, who seeing a man robbed and injured by thieves and left to die on the side of a road, passed him by. In contrast, a Samaritan, showed compassion and not only stopped to help him but took him to an inn to be cared for. A neighbour, according to Jesus, is one who shows mercy on those in need and does not pass them by.

More than a decade ago God inspired me to write ‘Dear Neighbour' letters. My prayer is that my words will bring hope and healing to all but especially to those who find themselves in spiritual need alongside the road of life. God has been so good to me and it is my privilege to direct your thoughts to Jesus, the lover of your soul.

You are my neighbour and I will not pass you by.

DEAR NEIGHBOUR LETTERS

How do you respond to the Light?

Dear Neighbour,

During my study of the Book of Isaiah I read two true stories in a commentary by the late Bible teacher, Vernon McGee. They made such an impression on me that I have decided to share them with you.

“When I was a boy in Oklahoma, I used to have to milk a stubborn old cow. When it grew dark early in the evenings, I would have to take a lantern out to the barn with me. When I reached the corncrib two things would happen. The rats ran for cover—I could hear them taking off—and the little birds that were roosting up in the rafters would begin to twitter around and sing. The presence of light caused one to flee and the other to sing. Now, did the light make a rat a rat? No. He was a rat before the light got there. The light only revealed that he was a rat. When the Lord Jesus came into the world, He was the Light of the world. In His presence two things happened: He caused the birds to sing and the rats to run.”

Abused, misused - but chosen!

Dear Neighbour,

Recently, I awoke early and as I lay quietly in my bed, the Holy Spirit dropped a God-thought in my heart. When God speaks to my heart it usually comes in a spontaneous flow that is very different from my own natural and logical way of thinking.  In a nutshell, God told me that people who abuse themselves and others don’t know that they have been chosen.

Malachi 3:3 says: He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study...

Never Too Old To Learn

Dear Neighbour,

My heart’s desire is to be teachable and God has heard my prayer.  I have been given the opportunity to study again after a break of thirty three years.  In my youth, I qualified as a Senior Primary School teacher.  Unfortunately, due to the pain of Rheumatoid Arthritis, my dream to teach was shattered and within a few years I was medically boarded.

I love to share what God has done in my life and use it to encourage others. Having this space to express myself has been such a joy, but it is also a responsibility that I do not take lightly. I feel responsible to present God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Word of God as accurately as I can. The regular readers will know how passionate I am about the person of the Holy Spirit.  My friendship with Him has grown due to my complete dependence on Him for inspiration and revelation in my writing.  This blog is one of the reasons I decided to study again.
