|Abused, misused - but chosen!|

Recently, I awoke early and as I lay quietly in my bed, the Holy Spirit dropped a God-thought in my heart. When God speaks to my heart it usually comes in a spontaneous flow that is very different from my own natural and logical way of thinking. In a nutshell, God told me that people who abuse themselves and others don’t know that they have been chosen.
As I lay thinking about what I had received, different scenarios began to run through my mind like a video clip: people abusing their own bodies with food, tablets and alcohol, children listening in fear to the shouting of their parents in the next room, young people taking drugs, people misusing their bodies in ungodly relationships, the rape of women and the abortion of unborn babies. It was extremely distressing and I am finding it difficult to share with you, but there was just one ray of hope in the midst of all this misuse and abuse – the fact that God told me that these are the very people He has chosen. The root of the problem is that they don’t know that they have been chosen by Him.
If you are either a victim or a perpetrator of abuse against yourself or another person, God wants you to know that He chose you before He created the world.
Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) (Ephesians 1:5 The Message)
Isn't obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses (1 Corinthians 1:27 The Message).
You are the focus of God’s love. He desires to love you back to wholeness and holiness. You are a person of great worth to Him and all He asks of you is that you will respond to His love.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me,
when you search for Me with all your heart.
(Jeremiah 29:11-13 New King James)
I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out--plans to take care of you,
not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
"When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen."
When you come looking for me, you'll find me.
"Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else,
I'll make sure you won't be disappointed."
…"I'll turn things around for you.”
(Jeremiah 29:11-14 The Message)
